Groundwater Management

SSCAWA developed a groundwater management plans in 2002 and then updated it in 2011.  The 2002 plan was developed under a law passed called AB 3030, then SSCAWA updated the GMP to meet the new groundwater management law, SB 1938.  

In conjunction with the County of Sacramento and the City of Galt, SSCAWA developed and is implementing the state required California Statewide Groundwater Elevation Monitor Program (CASGEM).  This information can be found on the Department of Water Resources CASGEM website.  

The 3 member district of SSCAWA are Groundwater Sustainability agencies that are in the process of developing a Groundwater Sustainability Plan for the Cosumnes groundwater sub-basin as required by state law.  For more information visit Cosumnes Groundwaters sub-basin website.
